What are Bridal Portraits?

Bridal portraits may be something you’ve never heard of before. Typically, bridal portraits occur on a separate date before your wedding day where you put on your wedding dress, (this is usually a great day for your hair and makeup trial!) and go to a beautiful location to get some beautiful photos of just the bride before your big day. Depending on your photographer, this might be included in the wedding photography package or it could be an additional charge. The next thing we come across is the big question: Is it worth it?

Why You Should Book Bridal Portraits:

Picture this: your dress is finally altered to fit you perfectly, you have your hair and makeup trials booked, and your Mom and sisters can’t wait to see you with your bridal look all put together. You take a day to get everything put together, you drive out to a gorgeous location to shoot some beautiful photos for your wedding album, wall art and most importantly, for generations to come to look at as time goes by. These types of portraits help you savor being in your wedding dress, they help you find what angles and poses you like best for your wedding day, and they’re an incredibly special moment to get comfortable with your photographer. All of these things will be an incredible investment down the road!

In the words of one of my 2021 brides “I wasn’t too sure about bridal portraits until I got them done. I absolutely cherish the extra time I got with my mom and sisters while shooting the photos I have hung above my fireplace now! I wouldn’t trade that time for the world.”

Every bride should consider investing a little extra into getting some more time to capture themselves on one of the biggest parts of their wedding journey. Your groom will thank you!

PS: Didn’t book bridal portraits before your wedding day? Not to worry! Formal bridal portraits can still be booked after your wedding. You can even get your groom in there since he’s already seen you in your dress. Use this unique opportunity to get dressed up and relive your big day!
